The original house was built in the late 1960's early 70's and consisted of  two bedrooms , two bathrooms a seperate kitchen and a open plan lounge, dinning room. There was a serving hatch between the kitchen and lounge.  Adjacent to the house was a double garage with a fishingroom and a second room that may have been used as staff quarteres or a store as it had a toilet, washbasin and a drain for a shower. The house was used as a weekend fishing getaway for a family from Johannesburg.
Jackie and I (Steve) aquired the house in September 2009. We drew up our own plans and started alterations in December that year. We employed the services of a local builder and his team and purchased all the materials ourselves.
We removed the roof covering, removed the ceiling, removed all the doors and windows, broke out the verander and included into the house. We moved the one kitchen wall by 400mm and demolished the other between the dinning room and kitchen. We added bay windows to all the bedrooms and the main bathroom.

We also converted the Garage into two bedrooms with showers on suite and the fishing room into a store/laundry.

The end result speaks for its self:-
